Thank you to everyone that helped out at EK 50Year in whatever capacity, I had a great time weather aside.
Having said that there was a surfeit of Shire folks doing things to help make the event run. If you know of people that helped out, please send me their names, and what you know they where doing.
As EK50 continues to approach, please consider taking some time to support representing the Shire in the Hall of History. Quintavia is the oldest, largest, and mightiest Shire in the East and I want to do us proud. To that end, I’m looking for help before the event assembling displays of our events and history, assistance decorating the booth on Thursday as the event is getting started, and help staffing the booth during the event.
Quintavia has hosted a number of beloved recurring events over the years: Boredom War, Hafla, Embroidery Schola, and King’s and Queen’s Equestrian Championships. I’m looking for volunteers to assember shadow-box style displays, of about 3 feet by 3 feet, for each of these events to help capture the feel of being in Quintavia’s grassy hills. I have plenty of pictures to assist you, but I can’t build them all myself, I just don’t have that much creative energy. Can you help?
I would also like to display the rich tradition of our Keepers of Quintavia. If you have any of the Relics, can you please make arrangements to leave them with me for use at the event? If you are a calligrapher, would you be interested in creating a roll of the Keepers to display?
Lastly, there are over 30 visiting hours for the Hall of History over the course of the weekend. If only 15 people were to help, we could all take one 2-hour shift and ensure there’s always someone available to showcase the glory of our Shire. Can you commit to just two hours staffing the booth?
If you can help in any way, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
The next Learning Heraldry Gathering will be on Tuesday, May 15th, 6-8 pm at the Camelot common House, 69 Village Ct., Berlin, MA 01503. (We were going to do this last week, but we ended up rescheduling.) For this gathering, we will be going through the Names 101 class on the East Kingdom Heraldic University website, http://elmet.eastkingdom.org/ekhu/, and probably also finishing up the Book Heraldry 100 class (we didn’t get to the last 10 minutes or so last time). We will probably continue going through the basic Names classes from the website before moving on to something else.
If you are interested in learning with us, please come join us! Also, feel free to let me know what sort of heraldry you would like to learn in the future. We are thinking of meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, 6-8 pm, eating dinner together at the beginning of the gathering. I’m making grilled chicken and some sort of veggies for this week, so please let me know off-list if you want in.
Our new TW Officer, Lord Asher is starting up a range /practice.
This Saturday from 12:30 to 3pm at his house, located at 5 Northgate Rd in Northborough. Closed toed shoes are required. There are limited loaner weapons for new throwers and a suggested donation of $1 to help pay for target maintenance.
Looks for updates for a regular TW practice at this space.
Thank you for a wonderful coronation, in general everyone I talked to was pleased with the day and I know the staff of TRM was very pleased with the site, and everything put together.
For the folks I didn’t get the name of either, in the kitchen, running gate, pulling trailers, helping with cleanup and in general making the event run thank you.
Thank you to the staff of the event, your work places the Shire and the SCA in a good light. I do know the Church folks were very impressed with the event, and how we left their facilities and would love to have us back for another event.

I’m going to give Simona a special callout for doing an excellent job running a kingdom event for the first time. Thank you.
We’ll discuss the event at the next business meeting (the 15th) but I expect we won’t have all the paperwork wrapped up so we’ll debrief it in may as well.
As a final plug we are always looking for more officers See this page for open positions. https://quintavia.eastkingdom.org/shire-officers/
A final thank you for making my job at seneschal easy.
I like to take a moment to thank the officer’s and deputy officer’s in the Shire. These people do the yeoman’s work in making the practices and gatherings in the Shire happen, and without them we would all be in a lesser place in terms of what we get out of the SCA. Vivat!
A listing of the current officers and their deputies can be found here. The Shire is large and active as can be seen on the practice listing page. and it is due in large part to these folks making the Shire function. Saying that we do have some open positions and/or officers who are in a current position that need to step back. If you are interested in any of the open / looking for replacement positions, or want to ask what the office entails please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. We also have an archive of all the business meeting minutes for the last few years, that is also a good place to learn more about what the various offices entail.
Meeting is 3/11 starting at 11am in the Camelot Common House (69 Village Ct Berlin MA)
In addition to the event items, we are looking for a volunteer to put together information for a shire display at EK 50y. We also have elections for the following positions. Exchequer, MoaS, Chancellor Minor, and Dance. Also we are looking for replacement officers for Chamberlain and Chatelaine as those folks need to step back from the position. On the job training offered :)
Welcome to March, everyone! We have one dance practice before the Black Rose Ball, so you know you want to come to this one 🙂 Practice runs 7:30-9:30pm, in the Camelot Common House.
(By the way, the results of the survey indicated that there wasn’t another day, time, or frequency that was better than the current schedule, so we’re sticking with this for now. Thanks to everyone who responded, we may run it again in a few months to see if things change.)
There is a dinner (not part of the practice, but folks are welcome to come) being prepared beforehand by Matthias starting at 6:00pm. Dinner is $5.
3 Meat Crock Pot Dishes (pulled pork, chicken, beef) (Vegetarian/Vegan available on request)
